SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20
(By Senators McCabe, Mitchell, Rowe and Sprouse)
Urging AT&T to reevaluate its decision to eliminate 200 operator
positions nationwide, including 36 positions from the
Charleston Call Servicing Center.

Whereas, For 80 years, the AT&T Call Servicing Center has been
in operation in the City of Charleston; and

Whereas, At the present time, the AT&T Call Servicing Center
employs a staff of 134 people who have proven their dedication,
efficiency and loyalty to their employer; and

Whereas, If a reduction is made at the Charleston Call
Servicing Center, the number of employees would decrease to 95
employees and 3 managers; and

Whereas, The Charleston AT&T Call Servicing Center has always
been a high-performance office and normally ranks at or near the
pinnacle of all measurement categories; and

Whereas, Many dedicated and loyal employees of the Charleston
Call Servicing Center have more than 20 years of service, but are
not eligible for retirement; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby urges AT&T to reevaluate its decision
to eliminate 200 operator positions nationwide, including 36 positions from the Charleston Call Servicing Center; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Mike Armstrong, AT&T Chief Executive
Officer; David Dorman, President of AT&T; the Governor of West
Virginia; and the members of West Virginia's congressional
delegation.
